Australian Postgraduate Research (APR) Intern is the only national all sector – all discipline internship program placing PhD students into business.
A not-for-profit program, APR.Intern connects industry with Postgraduate students and leading research capabilities to complete tightly focused research projects. Industry clients work with the successful intern and academic mentor to refine the project plan.
Both industry and academia benefit from the program:
- businesses will access specialist research expertise through the PhD and academic mentor team
- students gain invaluable experience in an industry setting
A rebate for industry will assist in the placement of 1 400 PhD students into Australian businesses by 2020. These internships are supported by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training, through the ‘Supporting more women in STEM careers: Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute − National Research Internship Program’.
