Platform Manager—Materials Characterisation and Fabrication Platform

Based at the University of Melbourne, the School of Engineering are seeking an enthusiastic Platform Manager to lead the operations of the Materials Characterisation and Fabrication Platform (MCFP) at the Department of Chemical Engineering. This position is a maternity leave backfill for a period of 9 months.

The Platform Manager will lead the operations of the Materials Characterisation and Fabrication Platform (MCFP). The MCFP is a research infrastructure platform that brings together instrumentation to support materials science and engineering and is supported by the Melbourne Collaborative Research Infrastructure Program (MCRIP).

Leading the Operations of the MCFP the position will lead a team of technical support staff, provide technical support within the materials Science, Nanobiotechnology and engineering disciplines. They will manage maintenance of instrumentation, undertake high end training of new users, provide specialist advice on planning for equipment upgrades and support reporting requirements.

The position will foster collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to drive the usage of the specialist instrumentation by a range of end users including wider university and external users.
