Sampath joined ANFF-Qld as a Service Engineer in 2023, focusing on maintaining instruments and lab facilities, leading facility improvement projects, and commissioning new equipment and processes of ANFF-Qld at The University of Queensland.

With a PhD in chemical sciences from the University of Peradeniya (2015), he pursued a postdoctoral research fellowship at Toyota Technological Institute, Japan, specialising in ultrafast laser spectroscopic techniques for monitoring photoelectrochemical reactions. In 2019, he moved to the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics at The University of Queensland as a postdoctoral research fellow, researching mechanisms of luminescence in organic light-emitting materials.
