Associate Professor Paul Shaw is also a director of the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics and lead the Advanced Functional Materials research theme within SCMB. He is also the leader of the UQ-node of the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics.

His research focus and collaborations areas include development of organic semiconductors and their potential to revolutionise the design and fabrication of future optoelectronic devices, including solar cells, sensors, light-emitting diodes, and lasers. Research activities span all aspects including material design and synthesis, morphology, photophysics, and device fabrication.
